How We Designed the Air: A Compact Stroller That Won’t Slow You Down
We understand the troubles and frustrations that come with traveling with a kid in tow. From juggling your bags with a squirmy child to opening and closing a stroller on the run, getting anywhere can be a challenge. In true OXO fashion, we looked at this common pet peeve as an opportunity to make cruising around with your little one better.
Meet OXO Tot’s newest stroller: Air, a compact stroller that helps make any adventure with your little one a breeze. As an expansion to our stroller line, we took what we learned from developing Cubby and created Air.
The Fold (and Unfold)
As parents ourselves, we know what it’s like to fold and unfold your stroller multiple times a day, so we made sure folding Air is quick and fuss-free. We designed big levers that, when squeezed together, fold the stroller down into backpack size. We even went a step further and made it possible to have your hands free (to hold you little one’s hand…or their ice cream) with the carrying strap.
Once folded, the Air stands locked in place with the wheels away from the fabric. You can swiftly unfold Air so you and your kiddo can get back on the road in no time.
Child and Parent Friendly
Just like the Cubby, we designed Air with children and parents in mind. With front-wheel suspension, the Air gives you and your child a smooth ride wherever the day takes you. Jenny, the product manager, and Tommy, the engineer, even tested this out in our own backyard. They put weights in the stroller and took it for a walk on the cobblestone streets around our New York City office just to make sure that any bumps in the road you might encounter, the Air is equipped to take on.
Also like Cubby, the Air’s sandal-friendly brake will keep your toes happy, and the secret parent pocket will keep your phone, keys, money and emergency pacifier accessible.
Made for Relaxin’ in Style
Designed for taking adventures near and far, the Air’s comfy, secure seat means naps aren’t just a fantasy and your little one can rest on-the-go. In case the adventure is on a sunny day, the large UPF 50 canopy protects your tot, and as you’re cruising, a peek-a-boo window makes it possible to check on your kid and not miss a step.
When asked about what excites them most about Air, Jenny and Tommy both mentioned the fold.
“I am really happy with how the fold turned out. It’s so smooth and really something I wanted in a stroller. It still gets me excited every time I go to fold it and then swing the stroller onto my shoulder,” said Tommy.
The colors are also a hit.
“The colors are fun, too! I really love when you go to pull the canopy, there’s a pop of bright green or pink,” said Jenny.
Air comes in Onyx, Jade and Orchid, adding some color to your adventures.
