How to Make Irish Cream at Home

After Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day is my favorite holiday, and  I’ve been known to throw a celebration to mark the occasion (I once had 25 guests in my small New York City studio apartment).

The elements for a good St. Patrick’s Day party are easy. Throw on a little music (I recommend U2), ask everyone to wear green, and serve some great traditional food like Shepherd’s Pie(Opens in a new window) and Corned Beef and Cabbage(Opens in a new window). But the most essential part of a great St. Paddy’s Day celebration is, of course, the drinks.

While beer is usually the drink of choice for the holiday, I’ve recently started serving homemade Irish Cream(Opens in a new window) as an after dinner treat. With only seven ingredients, it’s super easy to make and really impresses your guests.

OXO Irish Cream

Recipe adapted from the Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen

Ingredients

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup Irish Whiskey

2 tablespoons chocolate syrup

1 ½ teaspoon instant coffee

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon almond extract

OXO Irish Cream

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. No blender? You can also use a large bowl and whisk to combine. This is delicious served on the rocks, drizzled over ice cream or splashed into your coffee!
