We made a promise to you and the planet in 2020.
To forge our plan, we’ve looked in — and we’ve looked out.
A lot of what we do celebrates the great indoors, but we found we could learn a lot from our friends in the great outdoors.
We joined the Climate Action Corps(Opens in a new window), spearheaded by the Outdoor Industry Association, and pledged to measure our greenhouse gas emissions, plan programs for managing and reducing our emissions, and share our progress each year.
Progress toward best practices.
The Higg Index(Opens in a new window) is a suite of tools used to monitor both the social and environmental performance of our operations and those of our key third-party manufacturers. These tools allow us to track environmental and social impact around ethical labor standards, water use, climate, and other areas.
Measuring our impact.
Along with our parent company, Helen of Troy, we’ve taken a snapshot of our carbon footprint. On the bright side, we discovered our direct operations – offices and owned warehouses, made up less than 5% of our impact.
Shifting our focus.
The largest chunk of impact — over 95% — came from manufacturing and materials. Knowing where we need to focus, we were able to prioritize our approach to product innovation.
